EKENE’S INTIAL REVIEW! SheaMoisture For Problem Skin

Hello lovely, how have you been?

Adult acne has been a challenge for me in the last few years. Some days are better than others, but it has been a while since my face was without blemish and in this economy, going to see an aesthetician stays being pushed to the bottom of my list of things to do with money. Apart from drinking lots of water (as I always have) and trying to eat cleaner, I’ve been on this long journey of trial and error with drugstore products with not much success.

So imagine my genuine surprise last week when I received these products from Perfect Trust Cosmetics. Perfect Trust is one of the OGs. You know, people that have been here for Team Natural long before others started paying attention. I discovered Perfect Trust years ago (yikes, actually 4 whole years ago) when I was still a spring chicken in law school- blogged HERE. If you are in Abuja, they have 6 outlets you could shop in person and for the rest of us outside Abuja, we can shop on their website: perfecttrust.com.ng. You get 10% off all hair products till the end of March when you use the code ECOLADIES.

My New Shea Moisture Skincare Regimen:

SheaMoisture African Black Soap Problem Skin Line

L-R: The  Facial Mask, Toner and Facial Wash & Scrub from the Shea Moisture African Black Soap Problem Skin line with Tamarind Extract & Tea Tree Oil.

I also got the Coconut & Hibiscus Spot Correcting Moisturizer which smells amazing.

How I’ll Be Using:

Morning and Night: Toner + Spot Correcting Moisturizer

Twice a week: Facial Wash & Scrub (in addition to Toner + Spot Correcting Moisturizer)

Saturdays: Facial Mask + Toner + Moisturizer.

I use Micellar water to take off my makeup. On the days I’m not using the Facial Wash & Scrub, I’ll be using my Clearasil wash, or just good old soap/ water or whatever gentle face wash I get at Naturals in the City on April 1.

It’s no secret that we are big fans of Shea Moisture here on the blog. The brand’s commitment to natural ingredients in their products is admirable. I’m surprised I didn’t really pay attention to Shea Moisture’s skincare offerings before now (probably because I never actually saw them in stores here). When I shop drugstore brands for my face every few months or so, the ingredients are more or less generic chemicals, so I stay googling and checking reviews on Amazon/ Influenster / Acne.org until I just pick a safe bet. Look at this ingredient list, though. Tell me it doesn’t make you feel loved.

This isn’t a sponsored post and even if it were, if the products don’t work, you guys would know. I’ve taken my “Before” photos to properly document the current state of my acne & scarring, and I will be closely observing. You can also stalk me on Instagram stories (@thekinkandi) where my bare face makes regular appearances lol. In 6-8 weeks, I’ll share my results with you guys. Hopefully, I’ll be flawless by then, HA!

Till then, you can shop Shea Moisture at the best prices, Cantu, Mizani and many of your favourite hair and beauty brands at Perfect Trust Cosmetics  in store, and online on perfecttrust.com.ng. 10% off till the end of March on HAIR PRODUCTS when you use the code ECOLADIES at checkout. They deliver nationwide!

Have a great week!
